In The NewsGreenspace Bylaw Passed
On June 22nd, 2006 a Municipal Referendum was held in Whitehorse on Planning Study Bylaw 2006-11 asking:
"Do you approve passage of Bylaw 200-11, a bylaw to require a planning study and a green space map as part of the preliminary development process for any new residential development of any size, and a plebiscite (vote) to approve the green space map?"
Of the 10, 318 eligible voters in Whitehorse, only 21% exercised their right to vote in this referendum with 1,118 voting YES and 1,047 voting NO passing Bylaw 2006-11 by a narrow margin of 71 votes...
