Highway Signs

The Whitehorse Chamber of Commerce has taken over administration of the new Urban Visitor Signs (UVS) System (or Highway Signs) from YTG Department of Highways and Public Works.  The new UVS system is intended to improve the quality and consistency of information directed to visitors traveling through Whitehorse while continuing to allow for an aesthetically pleasing highway signs system within Whitehorse city limits. UVS structures have been erected at both the north and south ends of Whitehorse on the Alaska Highway. We encourage you to take the opportunity to view the new UVS structures.

Local businesses wanting to be part of the new UVS System are asked to forward a completed application (link to form below), including a template of their proposed sign, to the Whitehorse Chamber of Commerce.  Please read the application carefully and completely and do not arrange for construction of any signs until your application has been approved.

Businesses applying for a first time sign must pay a $25 non-refundable application fee payable to the Whitehorse Chamber of Commerce.  Also, please be aware that all highway signs part of the new UVS System are subject to a $400 annual advertising fee (per sign) beginning January 2007.
